Family Law Research Guide

Introduction

Annotated statutes (and, in some cases, regulations) are useful research tools. In addition to setting out the full text of a statute, they summarize the leading cases interpreting the statute's sections. Many annotated statutes provide extensive commentary and analysis, as well as legislative histories and related provisions. These books are usually written and edited by subject-matter experts. Since they are regularly updated, they are often published as annuals or looseleaf books.
